Household Cavalry Operational Casualties Fund - James Percival

18 May 2011

Harlequins Lock, James Percival has been fabulously supportive of the Household Cavalry Operational Casualties Fund (HCOCF). As a sportperson who has had his fair share of injuries having sufferred a broken neck in 2005/06 - James is an ideal individual to help support the charity.

The purpose of the Household Cavalry Operational Casualties Fund is to provide immediate financial support to wounded soldiers and their families, including support to the families of those who have lost their lives on active service. The Fund provides financial and practical assistance across three areas - Recovery, Rehabilitation and Reintegration. This could be anything from flying a young soldier’s girlfriend to be at his hospital bed; installing a specially adapted kitchen or bathroom in the family home; to funding longer term education and training courses.

The Charity is hoping to raise £1.5 million by the end of the year.  £650,000 has been raised already at a number of fund-raising events, including a special day at The Stoop - Harlequins home ground, when HCOCF was the match day charity and with the help of The Harlequins Management, Quins players and spectators, they managed to raise £6,500.

James has taken time to visit injured soldiers during their recovery at Headley Court, for which everyone at the Household Cavalry are immensely grateful.
